Inauguration of Darul Uloom Imarat Shariah

On 21 Shawwal 1420 AH, corresponding to January 28, 2000, after the Friday prayer at the mosque in Qazi Nagar, Phulwari Sharif, Amir-e-Shariat Hazrath Maulana Syed Nizamuddin Sahib (may his shadow be lengthened) inaugurated Darul Uloom Imarat Shariah. Hazrath Maulana taught a lesson from the famous and well-known book of jurisprudence (Fiqh), Nur al-Idah. During the lesson, while shedding detailed light on the importance, features, style of presentation, and background of the author of Nur al-Idah, he stated:

"The selection of this book on the occasion of the inauguration of Darul Uloom Imarat Shariah is extremely suitable. This is because through jurisprudence, one gains knowledge of what is permissible (halal) and impermissible (haram), as well as understanding what the obligations (fara'idh), requirements (wajibat), traditions (sunnan), and recommended actions (mustahabbat) are. By acting upon these, a person earns the pleasure of Allah—which is the very purpose behind establishing religious seminaries (madaris).

God willing (Insha'Allah), the students studying at our Darul Uloom will remain distinguished and will constantly strive to gain Allah's pleasure by acting upon their knowledge. Currently, this Darul Uloom is starting in a house, and its inauguration is taking place in the finest land in the world—the house of Allah. Great religious institutions have similarly begun in simple houses or under trees, as is known from reading the history of seminaries. It is possible that our lives may not last to see it all; however, you will see it. In fact, we hold hope in Allah that we, too, will witness the progress of this Darul Uloom with our own eyes. God willing, this Darul Uloom will progress and continue to advance."

Afterward, Hazrath Maulana Qazi Mujahidul Islam Qasmi Sahib, Deputy Amir-e-Shariat of Imarat Shariah, delivered a very impactful speech. He offered gratitude to Allah for the establishment of the Darul Uloom and recited the Quranic verse "And [He has sent him to] others from among them who have not yet joined them" (Wa Aakhareena Minhum Lamma Yalhaqoo Bihim). Pointing toward the dear students, he stated:

"After us tomorrow, these very students will take the concern and vision of Imarat Shariah into the field and lead the nation (Ummah). This tradition of learning and teaching is an old one: the Companions (Sahaba) learned from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), the Successors (Tabi'un) learned from the Companions, and the Followers of the Successors (Tabi' al-Tabi'in) learned from them. This chain continued until it reached us, and it will continue until the Day of Judgment. The establishment of Darul Uloom Imarat Shariah and our students are a link in this very chain.

The purpose of establishing this Darul Uloom is not merely education, but along with education, it is the purification of souls (Tazkiya-e-Nufous) and the teaching of wisdom (Ta'leem-e-Hikmat). Education should not be superficial; depth and thorough comprehension are essential. This can only be achieved when education is pursued with complete hard work and dedication."

Addressing the students, he said:

"My dear ones! You must possess a distinguished character. Develop depth in your learning, act upon the knowledge you gain, and step into the field whenever duty calls. The ultimate objective is the elevation of the Word of Allah (I'laa Kalimatillah); always remain prepared for this.

This is not just any ordinary Darul Uloom, but Darul Uloom Imarat Shariah—it carries an association with Imarat Shariah. Always embody the vision of Imarat Shariah, which is to provide correct leadership to the nation (Ummah) in all walks of life and in every field. Beware, beware: never display cowardice, nor show reckless audacity that could be termed as madness."

Hazrath Deputy Amir-e-Shariat further added:

"God willing, our Darul Uloom will become a model not only in India but throughout the whole world, achieving its true place and continuously progressing. This Darul Uloom has been established in Phulwari Sharif, a settlement that has historically been an abode of scholars and pious figures. On one side lies Hazrath Makhdoom Rasti (may Allah's mercy be upon him), and on the other lies Hazrath Shah Mujeeb (may Allah's mercy be upon him). We are confident that the spiritual blessings (faiz) of these elders will continue to reach this Darul Uloom."

Addressing all Muslims in general, and the Muslims of Phulwari and Patna in particular, he stated:

"Consider this Darul Uloom as your wealth and your beautiful garden. Always remain concerned about its progress and keeping it flourishing. Furthermore, the late Mr. Ahmad Raza Khan passed away from this world after purchasing land and waqf-ing (endowing) a house for the Darul Uloom, thereby securing his Hereafter. I pray that not just one, but dozens of Ahmad Raza Khans are produced."
